Classes Cancelled Jan 17-21

As we continue to monitor the situation with respect to COVID cases in Saskatoon, the staff at Dance Alive Studios has decided to cancel all group classes during the week of January 17 – 21. All of these classes will be rescheduled for the week of the February break, from February 21 – 25 (Monday classes will be scheduled on the Friday). Students who have paid for Monthly Payments are eligible for a credit if they cannot attend classes during the February break. Please contact us via email to receive your credit!

In the meantime, we have some ONLINE OFFERINGS for you this week if you’d still like to enjoy some dance and movement! Check out our next post for details on schedule and prices, and to sign up.

We will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds in Saskatoon and try our best to keep offering safe, warm, and fun ways for you to stay active in our community. If you have any ideas of what you’d like to see, let us know. Otherwise, stay in touch and we will keep you posted!

Current COVID-19 Status & Restrictions at Dance Alive Studios

As of OCTOBER 1, 2021 the province of Saskatchewan has implemented a proof of vaccine policy for certain businesses, which applies to our studio. Therefore, Dance Alive Studios will be requiring proof of vaccination or a negative test results from a PCR or Rapid Antigen test for entrance to our facility.

We also have additional COVID-19 related protocols to help keep our clients, staff, and renters safe. Please read the information below CAREFULLY before entering the studio.

New Updates to COVID Protocols

As of July 11, 2021, the Saskatchewan government has removed all restrictions for business operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is great news! However, we still have a few of our own restrictions that we are asking our students to abide by for the summer while we are adjusting to our new unrestricted lives:

  • Please continue to wear your mask into the studio in the common areas, bathrooms, and entering and exiting the studio. These are high traffic areas with smaller spaces so it’s harder to keep a safe distance for those who may want it.
  • Your mask may come off once you are in the studio at your spot preparing for class!
  • We are decreasing the 3 metre spacing in class but will be maintaining 2 metre spacing in general, unless all students in a class agree to a smaller distance (i.e. partner work, certain spacings, etc.).
  • We will have larger class size limits – 12 people per class in the Green Room and 10 people per class in the Grey Area (maybe more for specific workshops with limited movement). Because of our large spaces, these class sizes still give more than enough room for 2 metre spacing in the centre and along the barre!
  • Students will be responsible for cleaning their own equipment after classes now, and the studio will continue to be regularly disinfected between uses.

Caelia and the Dance Alive team are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Saskatchewan and Canada. The safety of our staff and clients is of the utmost importance to us, as has always been the case since the conception of Dance Alive Studios. Even though the vaccination plan has been effective in Saskatoon, the risk isn’t gone completely, and we want to be respectful to everyone’s different levels of comfort. We will continue to take all steps necessary to keep our people safe and healthy, balancing pandemic safety measures with continuing options for mental and physical fitness activities.

Thank you for working with us patiently and considerately throughout these interesting times. As always, feel free to contact us with any questions!

The Freedom to Dance!

In a recent SHA COVID-19 Update for April 28, the age restrictions on dance training were finally lifted! As a result, dance training may continue for ALL AGES, with the same precautions as before:

  • Dancers may continue conditioning and skills training in groups of eight or fewer, abiding by the required mask use and at least three metres of physical distancing between participants at all times
  • Areas for dancers should be marked, and dancers should be instructed to remain within their designated areas

The current restrictions are viewable under the PERFORMING ARTS GUIDELINES. They permit virtual performances, so we are beginning to arrange choreography for our groups in hopes of a late summer performance! The focus on fitness will always be there, since our studio deeply values proper conditioning, cross-training, strengthening and mobility work, but the main emphasis will be back on dance!

Caelia and the Dance Alive team are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Saskatchewan and Canada. The safety of our staff and clients is of the utmost importance to us, as has always been the case since the conception of Dance Alive Studios. We will continue to take all steps necessary to keep our people safe and healthy, balancing pandemic safety measures with continuing options for mental and physical fitness activites.

Please view our current COVID-19 STUDIO PROTOCOLS for further details on how we are keeping our clients safe in our new studio space. Check out Our Classes page for schedule, class descriptions, and how to register. Visit our Other Services page to see what else we have to offer, and contact us with any questions!

A Focus on Fitness!

In the recent Public Health Order released in effect on November 27, 2020, greater restrictions were placed on Dance and Fitness Activities. As per the wording on the website:

  • Athletes and dancers 18 years of age and under may continue practicing, conditioning and skills training in groups of eight or fewer, abiding by the required mask use and at least three metres of physical distancing between participants at all times.
  • Fitness activities and group fitness classes in groups of eight or fewer continues to be permitted, for all ages. Mask use and at least three metres of physical distancing between participants must be maintained.

As such, we are taking this time to place a greater focus on fitness in all of our adult group dance classes to better abide by the guidelines posted for GROUP FITNESS AND AEROBIC-STYLE WORKOUTS. Because our dance classes were always designed with a focus on wellness and functional movement, and we have not been training for a specific performance or competition event, this shift is strongly in alignment with our studio mission and existing services.

Check out our Studio Info page for schedule, class descriptions, and how to register. Contact us with any questions!

Studio Update – Exciting News!

We are coming to the end of our 6-Week Sessions that have helped us get back on our feet from our forced shut-down in March. What a year! Due to the generous support from our DAS friends, we have been holding class on Wednesday and Friday evenings at Piper Rose Studios and having a blast. We have ONE MORE SESSION starting on the week of September 28. Check out our webpage on 6 Week Sessions for schedule, pricing, and the link to register (at the bottom of the page).

This final session will end on November 6, after which we will have a week off of dance coinciding with the November Reading Week. By this point, we are hoping…..

…to start our new season at
our BRAND NEW STUDIO!!

Our new home will have two studios, one large and one medium-sized, multiple bathrooms, and sprung floor with dancer-tested vinyl mats. We have lots of work ahead of us as far as building and preparing, but we hope to be finished in time to run classes on November 15, 2020.

If you’d like to be a part of building our new home, please send us an email. We are so excited to have a place to call our own, and we’ll appreciate all the help we can get in terms of building, taping, cleaning, preparing, and fundraising. It takes a village!

Can’t wait to see you in the studio 🙂
