
EMBODIED MIND
This class is a part of our Body & Mind Program at Dance Alive, where we take special care to stretch, strengthen, and connect with both our bodies and our minds. Our Body & Mind services teach you how to develop an empowered mindset by building the knowledge and confidence necessary to make your own decisions about health and wellness instead of simply following outside influences. When you learn to listen to your body cues and respond to what it needs, you become an unstoppable force in your pursuit of dance, athletics, or just general life!
EMBODIED MIND
is offered in monthly 90-minute workshops from September to June. These workshops offer a combination of lecture, discussion, and restorative meditation that helps melt away all the hustle & bustle of day-to-day through education, practice, and community-building. Built on methods both ancient & modern, we use concepts from Hinduism, Buddhism, Shamanism, Modern Psychology, Behavioural Science, Neuroscience, Somatics, Yoga, Dance Therapy, and more to give you the perfect boost for your mental and emotional health.

| 10-Minute Optional Homework to take with you out of the session and keep working on the concepts in your day-to-day life |
| 10-Minute Group Share for any final questions, comments, suggestions, or anything else you want to share with the group before we leave |

In our efforts to promote accessibility, we are proud to offer this class in a hybrid format, where students can join in-person at the studio OR through Zoom from home! Please give us at least 24 hours notice if you plan to join via Zoom so that we can properly prepare you with at-home props & options.

HOW TO PREPARE
Embodied Mind is a gentle movement class designed to be in service to you and your body. You can and should wear anything comfortable to sit and stretch in, with lots of layers to stay warm as we lay quietly. Mats, blankets, and pillows are provided in the studio to help keep you comfy, but you’re welcome to bring anything else you want to stay warm and cozy!
We generally do not wear shoes in the studio, but again, you are welcome to wear anything you like to keep your feet warm. Socks, bare feet, or even slippers would be appropriate for these sessions!
Other Equipment
We use lots of pillows and blankets to help keep the body warm and supported during these sessions. If you’re joining in person, everything will be provided for you, though you may bring your own yoga mat if you prefer (we have very squishy Pilates mats at the studio).
If you’re joining from home, it’s a good idea to try and have as many of the following items handy:
โข Yoga/Pilates mat
โข Blanket or cozy warm clothing
โข Bolster or different shaped pillows for support
