What is Path to Performance?

Have you ever dreamed of making up your very own dance to your favourite song? When you listen to music and it feels like it needs something more – a story, a movement, a costume, a pattern. Something needs to come out and you just aren’t quite sure what it is yet…

We can help you with that!

We have 3 different ways to develop your piece:

Collaborative Path

Our most popular choice, this path includes you (the dancer) working together in the studio with a Choreographer to bring your vision to life in real time. All choreography happens within the session, so there is no additional fee for Choreographer Preparation. This path allows you to have more input in the development of your piece, and hones your own choreographical skill for future works!

Choreographed Path

If you just want to give direction to the experts and receive the gift of custom choreography, then this path is for you! With this offering, you can simply show up and learn prepared work from our Choreographers during your sessions. You’re still invited to inform the process as much as you like, but most of the creation will happen outside of the session. This path has additional fees included to account for Choreographer Preparation outside of your time together. Easily transition to a Collaborative Path once choreography is complete for supported rehearsals & perfecting your routine!

Independent Path

Like to fly solo and create your own work of art? We’re happy to support your journey with regular check-ins, discounts on one time Private Sessions & Studio Rentals, Workshop invites, and priority access to our DAS Performances! You can pick a Monthly Package for Studio Rentals, or add-on features whenever you need. Work with choreographers outside the studio to share others creativity with us! Let us celebrate you from the sidelines as you take your creation in your own hands 💚

TERMS & CONDITIONS

• All prices above are subject to GST

• Packages can be cancelled or changed at any time with 7 days’ written notice; Monthly Fees will be pro-rated for changes occurring mid-month

• Studio Rental & P2P Sessions may not be accumulated month-to-month; Rescheduling Studio Rentals & P2P Sessions will only be permitted in special cases and depend on studio resources

Performance Opportunities

All finished pieces may be submitted to perform in our year-end DAS Show in June, our DAS Winter Festival in November, or any other performances we happen to run within the next year or so. More details are provided once performers have entered the program.

There also may be opportunities for dancers to perform small works that pop up throughout the year in our city and province. Dancers who are working on pieces through the Path to Performance option will be given explicit notice and invitation to be a part of these sometimes paid performances through Dance Alive Studios. These are often fairly spur of the moment with not as much time to prepare, but they are lots of fun and a great way to hone your skills as a performing artist!
