Purdy’s Easter Chocolate Fundraiser

Easter is coming up and with it, one of our favourite fundraisers! Twice a year, Dance Alive Studios hold’s a Purdy’s chocolate fundraiser to help with studio costs. We are still reeling from the effects of the ongoing pandemic, as are most small businesses, so these fundraisers help us to keep the lights on and focus our attention on providing value to our existing clients! November Fundraising

What a YEAR it’s been – and continues to be! Back in the before times, we had multiple fundraising activities regularly going to help support our dancers with their expenses. After a long hiatus, we have two activities back, just in time for the holidays:

Gift Cards through Fundscrip – FundScrip allows us to generate funds from you buying gift cards AT COST and using them for your usual groceries, fuel, dinners out, and more! This is an easy, sustainable, low-pressure way to continue supporting our community with your normal everyday purchases, or gifts for your friends and family. 

Purdy’s Christmas Chocolate – Purdy’s Chocolate runs two seasonal fundraisers: one for Easter and one for Christmas! For each fundraiser, there are standard Purdy’s classics as well as season-specific treats. Buy some for the whole family – with a little left over for yourself, of course 🙂

More details are available by following the links above. The deadline for both fundraisers is NOVEMBER 25, 2020 so that we can get everything in time for Christmas! That only gives you 23 days to submit your order and share with your friends. Watch our social media account for posts to share!

All of our fundraising can be done for specific dancers who might struggle to pay their personal fees, or for the studio as a whole. We are humbly requesting at this time around that you consider donating your fundraised portion to the studio for a couple specific causes:

  • The new studio should be operational by November 15 (fingers crossed!) but we will still have to wait on a few things that aren’t strictly necessary at the moment. For example, we will be offering a new Acro class but need to get our hands on some gym mats, and we would like to purchase some more yoga/Pilates/stretch & release equipment as well for our cross training. These will all come in time, but our fundraising efforts can make them arrive much sooner! All props will be properly sanitized between uses and will help to give our dancers the holistic and safe experience that our studio offers. 
  • We want to host our very own ballet exams at our new regulation studio for our dancers. It has been a few years since our exam dancers have been able to perform their exam in the same space that they train, and there is nothing quite like taking your exam at home. Unfortunately, we need to raise funds to pay the minimum fee for this, since we don’t have the required amount of sessions. After a year of cancelled competitions and exams, it would mean the world to us to be able to host our very own this season.

We are trying our best to build our new home in the midst of a very difficult year, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. We have a strong community and supportive dancers who are committed to their own practice and to keeping our space safe and healthy. We are so grateful for anything you can do to help us meet our goals this fall, even if it’s just spreading the message! Otherwise, we look forward to welcoming you to our new space in a couple of weeks.

Fundraising – Purdy’s Holiday Chocolate

Who doesn’t like chocolate around the holidays?? We’re doing another round of Purdy’s chocolate fundraising for the holiday season. Everything can be ordered online and we get 25% of the profits!!

You will be asked to provide an email address and some more contact info in order to join our campaign. While your individual email address is required, feel free to use the studio’s cell phone number (306-914-5565) if you prefer not to give yours. Then you can shop online and pay with your credit card and your order will automatically be added to the group under your name.

If you don’t have a credit card or prefer not to use it online, there are some PDF links below to the catalogue and the order form. You may peruse the catalogue and email me (caelia@dancealivestudios.com) with your order – I’ll place it for you! Then you can pay by cash, cheque, or e-transfer.

Usborne Books Fundraiser

Another regular fundraising activity we have is Usborne Books at Home, facilitated by Donna Dubé.

Usborne books are from the UK but are sold through mostly direct sales here in Canada. A few titles are available in stores through other retail stores at a discount but Donna has access to the entire inventory of over 2000 titles. There are baby and young children interactive books (touchy feely, sound, lift the flap, fold out) as well as more advanced readers, phonetic books, graphic novels, and illustrated classics. Beyond that, there are sticker books, “wipe-clean” workbooks with dry erase pens, crafts, puzzle books, search and find, science experiments, intros to other languages and more! There are so many options to choose from and they make great gifts for friends or excellent additions for your personal library at home.

There will only be a 5 DAY WINDOW open for ordering from the time you choose your items to payment. Orders will be accepted from:

Tuesday November 19 to Sunday November 24

Fundraising Cooking Class

Please join us for an evening of delightful cooking with Chef Dana Chadorf! All proceeds go to costume funds for the dancers. Participants can choose between fundraising for a specific dancer or contributing to the general studio fund.

Price: $90.00

Details: Food, equipment, aprons, and recipe packets included! BYOB. We make a three course meal and everyone takes part in sections/teams. At the end, a team leader stands and explains what their group did as we are plating the food. Then we all sit down and enjoy the fruits of our labour!

Halloween Paint Nite Fundraiser

Were kicking off some start-of-season fundraising with a Halloween-themed Paint Nite! We will see you there on Friday October 25 at 7:00 pm at The Riv bar (near Ave C and Idylwyld). Tickets are $45 each, and $15 of each ticket will go to your dancer of choice (or the general studio fundraising pool to help bring everyone’s fees down for costumes, exams, and more).

Gift Cards (Round 2!)

We’ve got one more round of fundraising to do this season, and the gift cards were a big hit! Here’s your chance to fill up on cards for groceries and fuel, or try something new and different from the last order. We are planning to hold our DAS Show After-Party at Boston Pizza in University Heights as well, so a BP’s gift card would be a worth-while investment!
